All Nippon, Japan Air Cancel Bombardier Plane Flights

All Nippon Airways Co. and Japan Airlines Corp., Japan's largest carriers, canceled 46 flights to check their Bombardier Inc. planes following accidents in Europe.
All Nippon, which has 14 Bombardier planes, canceled 25 flights after Canada's air transport authorities recommended checks, said Yuichi Murakoshi, spokesman at All Nippon. Japan Air, with 10 Bombardier planes, canceled 21 flights, said company spokesman Soichi Yatsugi.
Montreal-based Bombardier, the world's third-biggest aircraft maker, yesterday urged airlines to ground 60 of its Q400 turboprops after a second landing-gear failure in a week.
A Scandinavian Airlines Bombardier flight from Copenhagen to Palanga, Lithuania, experienced technical difficulties yesterday and was diverted to Vilnius Airport. All 48 passengers and four crew members were evacuated after landing, with no injuries reported. A Scandinavian Airlines Q400 caught fire in Aalborg, Denmark, on Sept. 9 after its landing gear on the right side collapsed. Five of 69 passengers were injured.
