Kenya: Airline Launches New Cargo Service

Kenya Airways has started a service for carrying electronics and other item susceptible to theft.
Mobile phones, laptops, computers, and video cameras would be shipped and manifested as KQ Secure. KQ head of cargo Shawn McGuinness said the airline would clients using this service higher loading priority than general cargo.
They would also get special storage facilities, closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance on the ground and security escort to the aircraft by trained personnel. "All these measures are designed to ensure an exceptional level of security," Mr McGuinness said.
Customers would have to present their cargo at least four hours before departure, as well as meet shipment size and weight restrictions, that are dependent on type of aircraft operated.
