Friday 29/09/2017 - Source: The Guardian

Two weeks after Aero Contractors blazed the trail, two more domestic carriers in Lagos commenced full flight operations at the new ultra morden domestic terminal of the Murtala Mohammed Airport (MMA2).

The commencement of the flight operations by the two airlines is in furtherance of a phased roll out of flight operations from the terminal by all domestic airlines as planned by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services, managers of the new airport complex.

To this end, all Chanchangi and IRS scheduled domestic flights operations will now operate from MMA2.

The management of the airport complex said that all essential facilities needed for the smooth take off of flight operations of all domestic airlines in the country are ready for use at the new terminal.

Commenting on their movement to the new airport, the director of operations, IRS Airlines, Kenneth Wemambu, described the MMA2 as a welcome development and a befitting edifice that all airport users should be proud of.

"The MMA2 terminal is good. We love it. The equipments and facilities in it are modern and I believe all airline operators and the Nigerian public should be proud of it" he said.

Earlier, the managing director of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services, Alex Van Elk, had said that it was a great day to have both airlines operates MMA2.

He noted that the new airport was built to world class standards and specifications in order to ensure that airlines and passengers enjoyed quality services and facilities.

Sources close to the management of MMA2 indicate that Virgin Nigeria and Arik Air would soon move in to the new airport for their daily operations following the resolution of some knotty issues which had delayed their movement to the new terminal.

It would be recalled that on September 8, 2017 Nigeria's oldest private airline, Aero commenced its domestic flight operations from the MMA2 at a ceremony flagging off formal flight operations at the new terminal.
