The Antonov cargo aircraft crashed shortly after take-off into a densely populated area and exploded on impact, setting several residential buildings on fire. Sources in Kinshasa told eTN that at least 38 people have been killed and another 30 injured in the crash.
The crew of the stricken aircraft was reportedly Russian, while the victims on the ground and probably some passengers on board the cargo flights are presumed to be Congolese citizens.
