Air Canada Drops Extra Bag Fee As Fuel Prices Fall

Air Canada has dropped a fee for checking a second piece of baggage on its flights because fuel prices have moderated from record levels, the airline said on Thursday.
Air Canada also said it will incorporate fuel surcharges into its advertised fares on north American flights.
The carrier implemented a CAD$25 (USD$23) charge for extra bags this spring as oil prices headed toward highs above USD$147 a barrel. Crude has since dropped by a third to below USD$100.
Air Canada had been adding a fuel surcharge of CAD$20-CAD$60 per one way fare on Canadian and US routes.
The airline's main domestic rival WestJet Airlines had not applied a supplement for a second piece of baggage.
