Siberia Airlines, now re-branded as S7, has ordered 15 of the next-generation Boeing 787 jets in a deal valued at about $2.4 billion. The order constitutes Boeing's largest sale in the former Soviet Union.

Under the deal announced Tuesday, S7 will purchase 15 of Boeing's fuel-efficient 787 Dreamliner jets for delivery in 2014. S7 also secured an option for an additional 10 planes.

S7, Russia's second largest airline, appointed Airline Business Limited as its GSA in the UK last year in a drive aimed at improving sales from the UK market.

Today S7 is one of the world's 50 biggest domestic airlines, and one of the top 100 in terms of key performance indicators. In 2016 the airline carried out more than 40,000 flights, carrying 4,900,000 passengers and more than 28,000 tonnes of cargo and post.

S7 has a large fleet of aircraft, amongst which are 60 long-haul airliners, including Airbus ?319 and A310s, Boeing 737s, Tupolev Tu-154?s and Ilyushin Il-86s.
