Hinchey Announces More than $1.1 Million, In Federal Funds For Improvements to Local Airport

Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) today announced that two regional airports in upstate New York have received a total of $1,113,119 in federal grants to help improve the safety of aircraft taking off and landing. Joseph Y. Resnick Airport in Ellenville, New York was awarded a grant of $963,119 from the U.S. Department of Transportation and Tri-Cities Airport in Endicott, New York was awarded a grant of $150,000.
"I am very pleased that these federal funds have been awarded to two of our regional airports," Hinchey said. "Having safe and efficient regional airports not only helps avoid accidents, it is important to ensuring that we grow our economy".
Joseph Y. Resnick airport will use its grant to construct a parallel taxiway to Runway 4 in order to enhance safety. Tri-Cities Airport will use its funds to remove trees at the airport that pose a safety hazard to planes flying in and out of the facility.
