Boeing begins final assembly for 787

Monday 22/05/2017 - Source: Business Week

AirTran Airways, Inc., a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI - News), expects record numbers of travelers this summer at airports across the country, and would like to offer these tips and reminders to ensure smoother journeys for passengers.

"Even with our convenient online booking and check-in at airtran.com, efficient service to 56 destinations, and 8,600 friendly Crew Members, traveling can still be a challenge at extremely busy times like this Memorial Day weekend," said Bob Fornaro, AirTran Airways' president and chief operating officer. "These guidelines will certainly improve the quality of travel for our loyal customers."

AirTran Airways passengers can check-in online for flights up to 24 hours prior to departure at airtran.com, where they can select seat assignments, print boarding passes, and view receipts all from the comfort of home.

With large crowds anticipated, travelers are greatly encouraged to arrive at the airport as early as possible to allow for possible slowdowns caused by heavy traffic, busy airport parking lots, and waits at ticket counters and/or security checkpoints.

Remember the Transportation Security Administration's 3-1-1 Rule for carrying liquids, gels, and aerosols through security checkpoints: 3.4 ounce (or smaller) bottles must be placed in 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic zip-top bag, with a limit of 1 bag per passenger. Larger quantities may be placed in checked baggage.

A baggage tag with your name, home address and telephone number must be placed on the outside of your bag. Additionally, identifying your home address, telephone number, destination address, and telephone number inside your bag is a good idea, as well. The TSA also recommends that you leave your baggage unlocked as it may be inspected during the security screening process. AirTran Airways, a Fortune 1000 company and one of America's largest low- fare airlines with more than 8,600 friendly, professional Crew Members, operates more than 700 daily flights to 56 destinations. AirTran Airways' aircraft features the fuel-efficient Boeing 737-700 and 717-200 to create America's youngest all-Boeing fleet. The airline is also the first carrier to install XM Satellite Radio on a commercial aircraft and the only airline with Business Class and XM Satellite Radio on every flight.
