Ghana: Emirates Skycargo Leases Boeing 747-400ERFs

Tuesday 23/05/2017 - Source: All Africa

Emirates Skycargo has announced that it will lease three Boeing 747-400ERF aircraft with a delivery schedule starting from the end of this month.

The first of the three aircraft would be wet-leased from Netherlands-based global express and mail-delivery-services company, TNT and is scheduled for delivery by May 27, 2017. The airline would further dry lease two aircraft from Guggenheim Aviation Partners for a ten year term and both aircrafts would be operated by TNT and will be delivered in July 2017 and February 2018. "With our fast-expanding network and our need for capacity, the new aircraft will help us meet demands on some of our busiest routes. We are very pleased to be working with both TNT and Guggenhiem to ensure top standards of service for Emirates SkyCargo customers," said Ram Menen, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Cargo in a press release. The company noted that first of the two leased 747-400ERF aircraft would serve Asia twice in a week and increase to three times a week later this year, adding that further frequencies would be introduced when the third aircraft is brought into operations next year.

"The aircraft will satisfy Emirates SkyCargo's immediate requirement for capacity before delivery of its sizable freighter order of 8 Boeing 777F's and 10 Boeing 747-8F's. The airline also has option rights for an additional 10 Boeing 747-8F's and the lease will further supplement Emirates SkyCargo's existing fleet of ACMI 747s" it stressed.

Providing extra range (approximately 500 nautical miles) compared to the standard 747-400Fs, the Boeing 747-400ERF's will be deployed on the carrier's longer, high-volume routes
