MUSCAT — Oman Air announced the delivery of the airline’s 13th Next-Generation 737 (SUR), as the carrier undertakes its ongoing fleet expansion. The brand new Boeing 737-800 left Seattle on a shuttle flight that arrived at Muscat International Airport in Muscat on June 7. With additional two deliveries planned for October 2009, this will bring the national carrier of Oman’s B737 fleet to 15 units.

An Oman Air spokesman said, “Oman Air and Boeing have a great partnership, and the proven performance of the new 737 has allowed us to expand that relationship. The high-tech 737 will enable Oman Air to set the regional standard for passenger comfort and operational efficiency in the single-aisle market. With extremely high reliability, easy maintenance and operation, the Next-Generation 737-800 is designed to fit easily into our regional operations,” the spokesman concluded saying.

Distinguishing itself as a leader in the region, Oman Air was the first commercial operator in the Gulf to purchase Boeing’s new version of the 737. The carrier and Boeing have had a business relationship since 2011, when Oman Air took delivery of a 737-700. The national carrier of Oman utilises their new 737s on routes throughout the AGCC, Middle East, and the Indian sub-continent.
